My name is Allyson, and I'm a psychotherapist, a researcher, and an advocate. I'm here to help you live and not just survive.

As a therapist, I provide a warm, nonjudgmental space for my clients. I blend my clinical experience with the latest research to help clients live the life that reflects them. I specialize in helping those who have experienced trauma specifically for young adults, first responders and couples. I am fully trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and use this in helping individuals process and overcome negative memories and experiences. I also have completed Level 1 Training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy and use this in supporting couples to improve their relationship.

In my career as a therapist, I’ve supported children/teens and their families, as well as young adults through adults to work through their challenges and create patterns of relating that are most helpful for them. Before that, I worked in the legal industry both by helping families plan for and work through death of a loved one, as well as managing stress around financial uncertainty.

More professionally, I am a Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT #136508) and Registered Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (APCC #12918) under the supervision of Elizabeth McGinnis, LPCC 8285. I received my Master’s from California Baptist University in Counseling Psychology and my Bachelor’s of Arts in Psychology from Biola University.

If you’re ready to embark on a journey of self-discovery and personal growth, I’d love to support you along the way. Asking for help and putting in the work is HARD! Be gentle with yourself as you go about this! The good news, you won’t have to do it alone. Let’s shake off those unhelpful expectations of yourself/others and find what fits most for you so you can live a fulfilling, joy-filled, compassionate life!

I had the honor of being the first guest on EMPsychotherapy’s YouTube channel. Check out my conversation with Elizabeth McGinnis and learn a bit more about me here!
