You have needs.⠀They are important and need to b You have needs.⠀They are important and need to be honored.⠀When our partner has depression it can be hard to know what we are allowed to ask for or to express.⠀But it is so important to tell them.⠀If they can't meet them,⠀having a conversation about the impact of that on you is important.⠀They might not be able to meet your needs at that exact moment,⠀but both of you need to acknowledge and accept that they are there and will need to be met at some point soon.

It can be easy to want to avoid talking about depr It can be easy to want to avoid talking about depression.⠀Maybe it feels like they always shut you down or you worry that you'll make it worse.⠀The truth is that it is a third presence in your home taking up all the room and oxygen.⠀Talking about it will make it easier.⠀It can help make you a team and not at odds.⠀If your looking for help on how to start the conversation, try watching a movie where a character is depressed and starting from there.⠀For other ideas,⠀talk to your friends,⠀family,⠀or a therapist.⠀It's hard but oh so worth it.⠀#depression #relationships #depressionhelp #depressionawareness #depressionsupport #fuckdepression #partnerdepressed
Sometimes taking the time to write out and look at Sometimes taking the time to write out and look at our differences can help build our compassion.⠀Spend some time in your journal writing how your partner shows their hurt and pain.⠀If you don't know the answer,⠀write out questions or ways you can observe your partner to find out.⠀Either way,⠀it lets you step back from some of the feelings of depression that can hang around a couples house.
